Pediatrics is one of the most sought after settings in occupational therapy. Practitioners assist children with various needs in hospitals, early intervention programs, school systems, outpatient clinics, and in the home. Common treatment goals include: helping children reach developmental milestones, encouraging independence in dressing, interacting appropriately with peers, sensory integration, handwriting, and following directions (Watling, Jackson, Bondoc, Asher, & Champagne, 2010).
